Technology and Nature

We are living in the age of technological revolution. Our lives have become almost entirely dependent on technology. But do we know that all technological knowhow is rooted in nature? Actually, not only is it rooted in nature but is also reliant on creations of Mother Nature. An astronomer can tell us that the earth orbits around the sun at a speed of 67,000 miles per hour. Yet there is no mechanical jerking or noises, oceans churning or objects flying. Now that’s technology. Upon further contemplation, we will come to understand and appreciate that no human effort can develop such subtle, highly refined and marvellous technology. So before we get obsessed and become completely reliant on it, we must learn to connect, understand and respect its very source.

As custodians of this planet we want to ensure that technological advancement does not come at the cost of our environment. If we only eat the fruit and don’t protect, feed and nourish the roots then we may not have the fruit one day. While we enjoy the fruit, it is important to dovetail our technological advancements to further our interests and efforts to protect and preserve our planet for us and coming generations.

Having the understanding that every action comes with an equal and opposite reaction, we must ensure that the technological footprint is kept in check and doesn't cause any disruption in the perfect balance of nature or cause any deleterious effects on our natural environment. By taking some simple steps we can make a huge difference. But regardless of where we stand with respect to our commitment to improve our natural environment, we must take time to connect with nature and make a conscious effort to observe, understand and appreciate it’s fascinating creations designed for our protection, nourishment and leisure.
